The solution? Sitting above the network layer that runs your smart devices, Matter gives smart home products a common language so they can communicate reliably, regardless of brand (e.g., Google vs Apple) or platform (e.g., digital locks vs light switches).
Thread technology, which is integral to Matter, is specifically built for low-power, high-performance networks in smart homes. Unlike Wi-Fi, which can have irregular speeds and connections, Thread creates a dedicated, self-healing ‘mesh network’ so smart devices stay connected even in large homes or buildings instead of relying on a single router.
